LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH

Transfiguration of Our Lord – Jesus radiates the glory of God among human beings humbled by sinful brokenness. This glory consists not in a certain age or a particular appearance or a specific ability but in God’s love for us creatures as His children. Let us behold this glory embodied in the least of these and remind neighbors of their eternal worth. Holy Son of God, lead us to listen and mimic You in respecting, protecting, advocating, and assisting. Amen.

LIFE QUOTES  Love and appreciation between generations are so important. God tells us not to conceal His great and mighty acts from our children, but to tell the generations to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength, and His wondrous works that He has done.” Kay L. Meyer, Family Shield Ministries – If you wish to support Lutherans for Life, you can through their web site: www.lutheransforlife.org

VALENTINES TO GIVE OUR CHILDREN

ACCEPTANCE         Teach them they are loved for who they are.  Everybody is somebody to Jesus.  Give this gift with a kiss.

SELF-CONFIDENCE   Help them understand that they have special abilities.  Praise them.  Give them this gift with a hug.

TRUST                      When worries, problems, fears come along, teach them to lean on Jesus.  Give this gift in prayer with folded hands.

APPRECIATION  Help them to be thankful, to enjoy life and the wonders of God’s creation. Give this gift with a grateful and cheerful attitude.

FAITH         Tell them about Jesus, the best friend they will ever have through devotions, Bible stories, songs and regular worship.  Give this gift with smiles and love.

AT THE SIGN OF THE CROSS

There is a two-way direction

At the sign of the cross:

Upward to God of great mercy

Outward to man in his loss.

Melt now the hearts of this people

At this one holy love tryst

Into one body all-glorious,

   Into the image of Christ.

Into one spirit and body

Into one heart and one mind

Under the headship of Jesus,

   Come, Holy Spirit to bind.

Moved by God’s love for the dying

Now with one heart beat for man,

As we are called by one calling,

Help us to reach out one hand.

Reach up with faith to Mount. Calvary –

What a great void faith will span –

Reach out with love from Mount Calvary;

Love’s a heart beat for lost man!
