UPDATE ON PICTURE DIRECTORY:
We are now progressing toward an updated roster. These are the fields we will be using and need you to make sure you have the information you want in the directory:
Last Name; Adult First Names/last name if different from household name; Children’s First Name and Last Name if different than parent; Street Address; City; State; Zip; Email Address (all lower case); Phone Number (with area code); Extra Phone Number (with area code).
PLEASE, check the previous directory to see if you need any changes and if you do, let Elaine or Krista in the office know what you need in the book.
Thank you so much for being here for your picture. Our directory will be so nice and I know you will enjoy learning who you see every Sunday. Holy Trinity is not so large that you should NOT know everyone who worships with us weekly. Having phone numbers and email addresses has been such a great help for me to be able to contact anyone I need to and I know others use them often, as well.
GREETERS, READERS, VIDEO OPERATORS, COUNTERS, OFFICE HELPERS Help us save some postage money. Please pick up your third quarter schedule from your mailbox in the Narthex.
GARDEN TABLE AVAILABLE If you have extra produce from your garden that you want to share with other people, you are invited to put them on the counter in the Giving Center in the Narthex. Feel free to help yourself to anything placed on the Garden Table. Reminder, first come, first served.
LIFE THOUGHTS IN CHURCH –Though his existence must have seemed pointless, Job refused suicide (Job 2:9-10). And God catalogued a world of testimonies to His enduring dominion and goodness (38:1-11). Paul likewise lists a litany of purposes in pain and hope during hardships (2 Corinthians 6:4-10). Jesus remains gracious Lord both of life and of all threats to it (Mark 4:41). He knows what it takes to save. In this comfort and confidence we may share His rest while life issues rage around us. Mighty Savior, give us Your peace and Your voice in our dangers. Amen.
Our Gospel is:
J oyful in tone
E arnest in spirit
S atisfying to the soul
U plifting to all
S ane in its appeal.
LIFE QUOTES “When we see the young woman in a crisis pregnancy … vulnerable, helpless, feeling destined to make only one choice—we are compelled to speak and defend and help because it is the Christ thing to do … We lift her up and offer Christ’s compassion in real, practical ways.” Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb – If you wish to support Lutherans for Life, you can through their web site www.lutheransforlife.org
YOUR FACE CAN WITNESS
A church paper reported a study from a woman who visited eighteen churches on successive Sundays. She walked up and down the aisle and visited with people after each service. She rated each parish on the following scale:
10 — for a smile from a worshiper
10 — for a greeting from someone sitting nearby
100 — for an exchange of names
200 — for an invitation to coffee or dinner
200 — for an invitation to return
1000 — for an introduction to another worshiper
2000 — for an invitation to meet the pastor
On this scale, all eighteen churches earned fewer than 100 points! The “researcher” concludes: “The preaching may be Biblical, the singing inspirational, the sermon uplifting, but when the visitor finds no one who cares whether or not she is there, she is not likely to come back.”
Go ahead and smile! Show people that you (and your face) know about the love and peace of Christ Jesus!
