Rev. Gordon Besel (pronounced: Basil) was born and raised in Ft. Collins, Colorado where he became an Eagle Scout before graduating from Poudre High School in 1971. After attending college in Winfield, Kansas and Ft. Wayne, Indiana, he received a Master of Divinity degree and graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1979. He served a dual parish (Cordova and Goehner, Nebraska) from 1979 – 1986. During that time, he also earned a Master of Education degree from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. He then served as the Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Omaha, Nebraska from 1986 – 1996. He has served as the Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers from March, 1996. Gordon has been married to his wife Shirley for more than 30 years. They have three children, Angie, Krista and Brian. Pastor Besel serves on the education committee for the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce, the last several years as chairman. He served on the Board of Directors for the Chamber as the Division Chair for Community Development from 2005 - 2007. He has also been involved in the Rogers Christian Ministerial Alliance, the Teacher of the Year Committee, the Community Scholarship Committee, and as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 2144.
Pastor Besel does not have specific office hours due to the wide variation in meetings, classes and appointments. The best time to catch him in the office is between Noon-2:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Friday is his day off, except for emergencies.
