We are very excited for Pastor Besel as he begins a new adventure, one of retirement. We ourselves are more than a little sad to see him go. He has been a huge part of the ministry of Holy Trinity for 22+ years. God’s speed in this new part of our life Pastor Besel.

A Message from Pastor Besel

I was born and raised in Ft. Collins, Colorado where I became an Eagle Scout in Troop 96 before graduating from Poudre High School in 1971.  After attending college in Winfield, Kansas and Ft. Wayne, Indiana, I received a Master of Divinity degree and graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1979.  I  married my wife Shirley in 1978.  I served St. John’s, Cordova and Holy Cross, Goehner from 1979 – 1986.  During that time, I also earned a Master of Parish Education degree from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.  After I left Cordova, I  served as the Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Omaha, Nebraska from 1986 – 1996.  I have served as the Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, Arkansas from March 10, 1996 to the present. We have three grown children, Angie and her husband Jason (She is a Physical Therapist in the Denver area.), Krista and her husband Jay  (She is a Physical Therapist in McKinney, Texas.  They have a son Connor.)  and Brian (He is a chemistry teacher at Ft. Lupton High School in Colorado.).   I served on the Board of Directors for the Rogers – Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce as the Division Chair for Community Development from 2005-2007.  I received the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year award for 2005 and currently serve as the chairman of the education committee for the Chamber.  Currently I am also a part of the Rogers Christian Ministerial Alliance and the Chamber’s Educator of the Year Selection Committee.  My hobbies are gardening, bicycling, woodworking and home improvements.  Shirley continues to work for the State of Arkansas.  I want to thank everyone for the support I have received here at Holy Trinity.  It is amazing to me that we were blessed to serve here for such a long time.
